First Date

Addy Davidson is the last girl in the country who wants to be on the new reality TV show to win a date to prom with the President’s son. She’s focused on her schoolwork so she can get a scholarship to an Ivy League college, uncomfortable in the spotlight, never been on a date, and didn’t even audition for it.
But she got selected anyway.
So she does her best to get eliminated on the very first show… right before she realizes that the President’s son is possibly the most attractive guy she has ever seen in person, surprisingly nice, and seemingly unimpressed by the 99 other girls who are throwing themselves at him.
Addy’s totally out of her comfort zone—but that may be right where God can show her the most about who she is . . . and who she was meant to be.

If your interested in reading a fun book that carries you through the process of how reality TV works this is a great read for you. I started First Date expecting to enjoy the story, and assuming I knew the ending after the first chapter, but I ended the book with a smile and surprise. I learned throughout the story a bit more about the process of reality TV shows and what goes on behind the scenes which was fun knowledge to gain. But I also gained something else, a sense of what life is like for the child of a high-profile politician and a great respect for the character Addy and her life. Addy really is a great leading character, She is just learning how to live her life and what it is she really believes in, and just how to stand for those things. Her days in the realm of reality TV bring her self-respect, guidance, and even true friendship. She has the opportunity to see both the good and the bad in the people around her and the will to choose how to react to each moment. I find myself wishing as I do with all good books that I knew ever more about what happened when the book ends.

I've spent years reading to my daughters. From birth I shared with them my love of books. Now we are entering a whole new era of loving books. Cassie my oldest daughter is reading on her own, and by reading I mean tearing through books as fast as I can buy them for her. Not only does she read them,  but she tells me all about them, crazy anecdotes added for fun! Hearing about the stories through her has been so precious I had to create a place to capture it. So I introduce you to our first Mother Daughter venture, blogging about the books we love!
