Fifty Shades of Grey (Fifty Shades, #1)

When literature student Anastasia Steele goes to interview young entrepreneur Christian Grey, she encounters a man who is beautiful, brilliant, and intimidating. The unworldly, innocent Ana is startled to realize she wants this man and, despite his enigmatic reserve, finds she is desperate to get close to him. Unable to resist Ana’s quiet beauty, wit, and independent spirit, Grey admits he wants her, too—but on his own terms.

Shocked yet thrilled by Grey’s singular erotic tastes, Ana hesitates. For all the trappings of success—his multinational businesses, his vast wealth, his loving family—Grey is a man tormented by demons and consumed by the need to control. When the couple embarks on a daring, passionately physical affair, Ana discovers Christian Grey’s secrets and explores her own dark desires.

Erotic, amusing, and deeply moving, the Fifty Shades Trilogy is a tale that will obsess you, possess you, and stay with you forever.

I heard many things about this book before I dived in. While I admit I was a bit scared of the Erotic Romance tag on the back I figured it was worth a shot. I am really glad I gave it a chance. Yes there is some mature content, but nothing that rocked my mind or shocked me to the core. Instead I found the romance more dominant in the book!
You quickly meet Anastasia Steele, Ana and are thrown into the excitement of life as a soon to be college graduate. What a great time in ones life of joining the real world, and little did Ana know she would be joining a bigger world than she had imagined! Ana is about to be courted in the most unconventional way by Mr. Christian Grey. A world beyond what she imagined is opened up to her and how she reacts to it is nothing short of making me proud!
I found the character development to be amazing in this book. At times I loved Christian and I times I wanted to cower and fear him. The slow steady delving into his life was a great way to really build him as a character to love! But will Ana love him, and what will their relationship be? The only way to know is to read the story for yourself and lose yourself in a good book!

  1. I'm so glad you reviewed this! I have been on the fence if I was going to download and read it, so I'm thinking I'll go for it now. I think you and I are very similar in our reading material, so I'm going to go for it! Thanks for reviewing it!

  2. I'm struggling with whether or not to read this one myself. I like romance, but the mixed reviews for this one are insane. Thanks for offering your opinion.

    1. I struggled too, and in the end I decide I'd read it and if it was to much I'd stop! But man was it good and the list of friends wanting to borrow it is already long :-)
